WP3 – Morphometry-activity relationships

Multivariate techniques (e.g. Principal Components Analysis and Discriminant Function Analysis) will be uses to explore the relationships among geological factors (e.g. lithology, inherited structure, rock strength), topography (e.g. relief, slope, hypsometry), evidence of past/ongoing instability (nested landslides, collapsed rockslide accumulations, shallow instabilities including rockfalls, debris flows and stream erosion-sediment yield) and large landslide style of activity.
Variables for the multivariate statistical analysis will be derived by existing datasets, as well as from the new inventory geodatabase (WP1) and the analyses performed in WP2. At the same time, geomorphological and activity data will allow validating the obtained statistical functional relationships.
